Paying for Rehab with Aetna Insurance

Paying for rehab with Aetna is as simple as reaching out to an addiction treatment provider, verifying they take your insurance, and starting to get the care you need.

Aetna healthcare typically requires you to have a formal diagnosis of a substance use disorder before they pick up the bill, but an addiction treatment center can usually provide this service.

Aetna healthcare insurance is required to cover substance use and mental health treatment under the Affordable Care Act. If you want to check your coverage, you have a couple of options.

The first option is to call the number on the back of your insurance card. Doing so will put you in contact with an Aetna representative who can explain the details of your insurance plan.

Alternatively, you can call Insight Recovery Center directly. Our team can verify your insurance coverage and get you started on the addiction treatment plan you need to recover.

Importantly, different insurance plans offer different levels of treatment coverage. Some plans pay 100% of your costs, while others will only pay a portion until you meet your out-of-pocket maximum.

What Does Aetna Healthcare Insurance Cover?

Each person’s insurance plan will vary in the types of addiction treatment it will cover or how long your insurance will pay for treatment. For example, Aetna insurance typically covers all of the following levels of care:

  • Medical Detox – A service that helps people recover from the effects of drug or alcohol withdrawal
  • Residential Treatment – Clients live on-site at their addiction treatment facility and receive intensive treatments
  • Outpatient Treatment – Clients visit their treatment center several days a week for treatment while continuing to live at home

However, your insurance may not cover the cost for as long as you would like. For example, some insurance plans will only cover residential treatment for 30 days, even though professionals often recommend that people continue for up to 90 days.

Insight Recovery Center works with you and your insurance company to make sure that you get the treatment you need. If that means an earlier transition of care, we can ensure you have the tools you need to succeed in your recovery plan.

What Costs Am I Responsible For?

Sometimes, insurance won’t cover the full cost of treatment until certain conditions are met. You may be expected to cover the cost of certain payments before you reach your out-of-pocket maximum.

Your policy might require you to pay a percentage of your treatment cost, known as coinsurance payments. In contrast, copayments are predetermined amounts of money for specific services.

When you reach out to Insight Recovery Center, our team can help you understand these payments and lay out any costs you might expect to be responsible for.
